Bed Bugs and New York Schools
New York State Senator John D. Sabini is proposing legislation that would make it a requirement for schools located in cities that have a population over one million to report bed bug infestations. He states that bed bugs are a serious problem in urban centers such as western Queens. He also mentions that the bed bugs found at schools could quickly spread to the homes of the students and faculty members.
I have one question: Where is the concern about the students and parents living in cities with under one million in population? Perhaps bed bugs in cities with 400,000 residents are trained not to enter classrooms and stay in posh hotels.
I think bed bugs in cities with 200,000 or lets say 1,000 people could attach themselves to students and faculty members and go home with their human companions.
The smaller cities could probably handle the parent notification procedure.
In the proposed legislation principals are required to supply students and faculty with bed bug prevention information. Perhaps a good idea but it could set up the schools for lawsuits due to insufficient information or tips that did not work.
Try Cryonite for bed bugs that follow you or your kids home.

Cryonite IS NOT the silver bullet…unfortunately. For unbiased opinions on bed bug treatments, visit the web site for the National Pest Management Association. Stern Environmental is trying to sell you a service, so keep that in mind. The only real kill is HEAT, and lots of it. Although freezing the insect will work, the effectiveness of Cryonite is limited, and if the insect does not come in immediate contact with the product, there is no kill. The best defense is knowledge…know what to look for, know how to avoid them if you are traveling, and know what to do if have an infestation. And understand that it can take multiple treatments and a great deal of effort on your part to rid an ifestation.
