NJ, NYC Mandatory Bed Bugs Prevention Lists?

Should apartment managers in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan and Queens provide every resident with a bed bugs prevention sheet and require the residents to sign off on it? That’s what happens at an apartment complex in East Austin. A comprehensive prevention list that also includes the techniques for a proper bed bugs inspection would be useful for NJ and NYC apartment residents. It might also give the residents the feeling that the apartment owner is actually concerned about them and is trying to be helpful. The manager of the apartment building in East Austin claims that if the residents follow the instructions it actually works. However, she claims that some residents are not following the bed bug instructions.

Perhaps some landlords will be passing out prevention lists and holding bed bug seminars with their renters as a way to provide evidence in court they have done what is appropriate to prevent bed bugs infestations and thus the infestation is the resident’s fault and the landlord should win the bed bug lawsuit. Besides the lawsuit issue, it seems appropriate for landlords and residents to work as a team to stop bed bug infestations.

If you have bed bugs ask a NJ, NYC bed bugs pest control professional to get rid of them.

Raccoon Removal

raccoons-4As suburbia stretches more and more into urban territory, it stands to reason that displaced wildlife will be a part of your daily life.  Raccoons used to be considered an animal that could only be found out in the country.  Today, more neighborhoods than not experience the pitfalls of having raccoons living among them.

Raccoons are super cute and look like sweet little furry animals.  You should always use caution when you see a raccoon.  The have very sharp claws and even sharper teeth.  They have been known to carry Rabies and Canine Distemper.  Contracting Roundworm should also be a huge concern when you have raccoons living among you.  Just this past January a teenager in New York lost sight in one eye from coming in contact with raccoon feces and contracting Roundworm.

Most states have laws about trapping and relocating wildlife.  In most instances, trapped animals must be killed instead of releasing.  It can be an almost impossible task for the average person to kill an animal humanely.   Using home remedies to get rid of these pesky creatures don’t seem to pan out.

If you have raccoons who have invaded your attic or eaves, it is best to call out a professional wildlife removal specialist to handle the removal of the animals.  Stern provides a safe, fast and humane raccoon removal service in the New York City metropolitan region servicing New York City, parts of New Jersey and parts of Long Island.

Should NJ, NYC Adopt Boston Bed Bugs Requirements?

NJ and NYC bed bugs are very good at hiding. When an apartment owner in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan or Queens has a bed bug infestation they typically have the bed bugs infested units treated and leave most of the other units untreated. This can be a major problem. Typically there are other apartment units that have a small infestation and the tenants are unaware of the uninvited blood sucking guests. Apartment owners are being naive to think only the residents that are complaining about the critters have bed bugs. Some owners are aware that bed bugs might be in other units but they just don’t want to spend more money.

Perhaps NJ and NYC should follow the guidelines established in Boston. The Boston Inspection Services Department requires that apartment owners treat all the horizontally and vertically adjacent units and inspect the entire apartment building. At a minimum, this should be done and in the long run the extra expense might save the landlord a larger expense of having to deal with a huge infestation of a large number of apartment units.

If you have bed bugs as a NJ, NYC bed bugs pest control expert to get rid of the critters.

The Squirrel Versus The Power Company

squirrel-2Squirrels are cute to look at when they are frolicking in the back yard.  One of my favorite things to feed them is a tortilla.  They try to pick them and run with them, but end up rolling around on the ground turning them into a furry burrito.  After many attempts, they somehow find a way to run with them on their heads making them look like little ghosts in the yard.

When squirrels are not acting cute, they can be a huge problem for homeowners and businesses.  They often cause considerable damage when they gain entry into a dwelling.  Just recently, one squirrel was responsible for a massive power outage in Canada.  Apparently the squirrel had found its way into a substation.  The squirrel took up residence for an undetermined amount of time and gnawed on some electrical wires.  The resulting fire eventually led to 55,000 customers being without power for a good amount of time.  That one lonely squirrel caused $200,000 worth of damage, and lost his life in the ensuing blaze.

If you suspect that you might have a squirrel problem in New York or New Jersey, it is important to call a squirrel removal specialist quickly before the squirrel is able to cause extensive and expensive damage to your home or business.

Expensive Bed Bugs in NYC

Getting rid of NYC bed bugs in apartment buildings located in Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn can be expensive. Sometimes apartment buildings that have a bed bugs infestation have bed bugs in half the apartment units.

If they actually want to eliminate the bed bugs the cost can be high for large apartment buildings. Even if the bed bugs are totally eliminated by professional pest control professionals if a resident brushes up against a bed bug infested person in the subway and brings back several bed bugs to the apartment building which turns into a huge population of the critters and the landlord has to spend more money for treatments.

Some suggest that NJ and NYC residents will just have to get used to living with bed bugs. Some suggest scientists should look into the effectiveness of using products utilized in agriculture to get rid of bed bugs. Some think the EPA is not doing enough and if their members had to live in a bed bugs infested apartment for a few weeks perhaps there would be more of an emphasis on eliminating the critters. Maybe bed bugs bites will become fashionable and the critters will no longer be a problem. Perhaps not.

If you have bed bugs ask a NJ, NYC bed bugs pest control professional to eliminate them.
