Should NJ, NYC Residents with Bed Bugs Toss their Furniture?

NJ and NYC residents fighting a bed bugs infestation on their own typically toss out their mattresses and bed frames and some furniture they suspect as being hideouts for the odious bed bugs. This strategy can be quite expensive and may not work. Bed bugs enjoy hiding out in nooks and crannies in walls, also in electronic items, carpet, drapes and just about everything else you have in the house.

Many residents of NJ and NYC have thrown away their furniture and the bed bug problem just gets worse due to the remaining bed bugs producing more eggs. Some people have actually thrown out two sets of furniture. Instead of throwing away the mattress some experts suggest using a bed bugs mattress encasement which will trap the critters partying inside the mattress. It’s a good idea to leave it on for at least two years since NJ and NYC bed bugs have been known to go dormant and live without a blood meal for over a year. By the way, even if you see used furniture in a vacant lot in a posh neighborhood, even an extremely posh neighborhood, don’t take it home. Bed bugs also like rich people.

Ask a NJ, NYC bed bugs pest control expert to eliminate your bed bugs.

One Response to “Should NJ, NYC Residents with Bed Bugs Toss their Furniture?”

I think that bb’s hide in furniture and it should be tossed. Active children tend to jump on beds and furniture that have been encased causing holes, rips, etc. You will then be re-infested. The less items you have, the less places to hide and lay eggs. You can then concentrate on cleaning and exterminating. What you should not do is buy new furniture immediately. When you do purchase a minimal amount of inexpensive items. Forget the woods furniture.
