Bed Bug Infested Furniture for Free

It’s that time of year when NJ and NYC college students are going back to school. Landlords in college towns hope they don’t bring bed bug infested used furniture with them. A few times each year numerous colleges all over the country have used furniture situated on nearby sidewalks and lawns. It used to be a convenient way for students to grab some free couches. However, with the bed bug problem that NJ, NYC and the rest of the nation is dealing with it’s best to leave those used furniture pieces alone. A college student trying to save some money can cause an apartment building owner to pay for some very expensive bed bug treatments for a large number of apartment units. Also the neighbors won’t be too pleased when they wake up with bed bug bites all over themselves and find the obnoxious insects crawling inside their laptop computers. If someone is offering free gold coins, fine take a few but college students should refrain from picking up discarded furniture. If you have NJ, NYC, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx or Manhattan bed bugs ask a NJ, NYC bed bugs pest control expert to destroy them.

Fast Facts about Carpenter Ants

Carpenter ants are one of the most common types of pests in New York and New Jersey, and they can cause great damage to homes and wood furniture if no measures are taken to control them. Here are some basic facts about carpenter ants.

1) Carpenter ants are ants that belong to the genus Camponotus, and they are given their common name because they set up their colonies in wood.

2) The size of carpenter ants range from a quarter inch to slight more than half an inch.

3) Depending on their species, carpenter ants can be black, dark brown, red, orange, light brown, or yellowish tan.

4) Unlike termites, carpenter ants do not consume wood. When they dig galleries in wood to create colonies, they will collect the wood debris and leave them outside.

5) Carpenter ants play an important role in the natural environment as they can help in the decomposition of wood and control the population of small insects.

6) Carpenter ants usually establish their colonies in parts of wood that are moist.

7) There are two types of carpenter ant colonies, namely, the parent colonies and the satellite colonies. The parent colony houses the queen, her offspring, and a group of workers, while a satellite colony is made up of thousands of worker ants.

Bed Bugs Thriving in Unusual Places

The New Yorker recently had an article about a collection of books being infested by bed bugs. Yes indeed bed bugs will hide just about anywhere they can slide into. Bed bugs have been found in cell phones, computers, grout, cracks in wooden floors and I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re lurking in a bassoon somewhere in New York City. People living in NJ and NYC have been tossing out all kinds of items they believe are infested with bed bugs.

The obnoxious insects hang out in more places than beds which makes it very difficult for humans to find them. NJ, NYC residents might think modern technology is the best approach to finding the critters. However, studies have shown that bed bug sniffing dogs are by far the best bed bug detectives on the planet. Beagles and other properly trained types of dogs are in high demand all over the country. You may not be able to find a NJ or NYC bed bug in your computer but a bed bug sniffing beagle can probably find them.

If you have NJ, NYC, Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens or Brooklyn bed bugs ask a NJ, NYC bed bugs pest control expert to destroy the insects.

Essential Bed Bug Information for Hoteliers and Guests

The owner of Stern Environmental has written a fascinating bed bug/hotel industry article. Yes, it includes staggering multi-million dollar lawsuits, powerful bed bug bite stories, plummeting bed bug induced hotel ratings, a bed bug hotel warning website and yes indeed, microscopic, nearly translucent nymphs. The article is one of the most comprehensive bed bug/hotel articles on the web. It’s offers important information for hotel owners and travelers and provides plenty of conversation starting information.

“Enter at your own risk” doesn’t seem to satisfy the bed bug bitten hotel guests which is understandable. The victims and the hotel owners both have valid arguments. It’s easy to go against big hotel chains. However, if they are listening to experts and properly inspecting the rooms, utilizing quality bed bug extermination services and using appropriate bed bug prevention methods it’s hard to blame them if they get upset for being sued for a few million dollars by a bed bug victim.

If you have NJ, NYC, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens or Manhattan bed bugs ask a NJ, NYC bed bugs pest control expert to eliminate the insects.
