Bed Bug Monitoring Device Praised by Experts

The latest in bed bug technology the NightWatch bed bug monitoring device is receiving high praise. The New York Times Sunday Real Estate section from August included comments from John Furman of Boot-a-Pest. Her praised the NightWatch for being effective at detecting bed bugs and for providing evidence to the residents that the eradication process has been completed.

W. Jay Nixon, MS, BCE, Board Certified Entomologist, of Pest Management in Washington DC and his operations manager are utilizing the bed bug monitoring device NightWatch in an NIH residential facility for children with cancer.

NightWatch is a trap and monitoring device that entices bed bugs to it by using heat, CO2 and a lure that mimics natural pheromones. The bed bugs believe it’s a human. The device traps the bed bugs so they won’t be able to attack people and very importantly it signals to people that bed bugs have invaded the residence.

If you have NJ, NYC, Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx or Brooklyn bed bugs, ask a NJ, NYC bed bugs pest control expert to get rid of the insects.

Integrated Pest Management for Cockroach Control in NYC

Cockroach infestation is a very common problem in NYC’s public housing areas. More than 90% of residents in city-owned housing projects in Brooklyn and East Harlem have seen cockroaches in their apartments. The traditional method of using pesticides to get rid of cockroaches will result in increased exposure to toxic chemicals, which can be detrimental to health. A healthier solution will be to take management measures to keep cockroaches out of apartments for an extended period of time.

Integrated pest management is not only a healthier way to get rid of cockroaches; it is also more effective and affordable. Residents only need to hire pest management professionals once every six months, and these professionals will clean the apartments, seal cracks, and set up bait traps to control cockroach infestation. According to studies, the population of cockroaches in apartments that received a single visit from integrated pest management professionals was reduced by 75% after just three months.

If you are experiencing cockroach problems in your home, you can contact pest control experts in NY, NYC, and NJ.

$100,000 Lawsuit – Bed Bugs or Chicken Pox?

NJ and NYC residents and everyone else may be interested to know that a woman is suing a Virginia Beach hotel for $100,000 because she claims her infant son was attacked by bed bugs and he required medical treatment. She claims the boy has rashes, pock marks and scarring from the bed bugs attack. However, the hotel owner claims the boy was covered with scabs when they arrived at the hotel and that the mother mentioned the boy had chicken pox. Oh my.

Bed bug infested hotel rooms are terrible for the occupant but bed bug infestations are also terrible for the hotel owner. Perrella, the owner of the hotel, claims the bed bug treatments he had performed in 2007 cost him $40,000 plus he figures he lost $20,000 in revenue.
If you are dealing with NJ, NYC, the Bronx, Queens, Manhattan or Brooklyn bed bugs let a NJ, NYC bed bugs pest control professional get rid of them for you.

NYC Subway Rats Getting Bolder

Despite measures by the MTA to reduce the rat population in NYC subways, commuters are seeing more rats on the platforms. MTA board member Andrew Albert said that subway rats are getting bolder, and it is not uncommon to see them sitting on benches.

One of the main reasons why there are more rat sightings in the subways is increased interaction with humans. The construction works, water leaks, and a rise in the number of commuters also contribute to the increasing population of NYC subway rats. As a way to control the rat problem, baits are placed on the tracks throughout the system once every month, but this does not seem to be an effective solution. Albert said that subway rats can cause health problems, and more extensive efforts should be made to control their numbers.

Some of the stations where rat sightings are more common include West 4th Street, Spring Street on the C, Chambers Street on the A, Jay Street-Borough Hall, and several 34th Street and Upper West Street stops.

NYC Bed Bugs Found in Popular NYC Building

It’s been reported that NYC bed bugs have invaded the Saatchi & Saatchi building in New York. They believe the NYC bed bugs are only living on the 17th floor of the building. Inquiring minds want to know if perhaps the bed bugs have already invaded other floors of the building or perhaps just biding their time until they make other portions of the building their home.

Perhaps some of the bed bugs have left the building and have moved to homes, apartment buildings and perhaps invaded a few posh NYC restaurants.

A memo sent to Saatchi employees stated they are having an eradication process and their testing shows the odious bed bugs are only on the 17th floor but they will continue to check out the other floors on an ongoing basis. Sounds like a good idea!

If you have NJ, NYC, Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx or Brooklyn bed bugs let a NJ, NYC bed bugs pest control company get rid of them for you.
