The Consequences of a Bed Bugs Infestation

Bed bugs can be very expensive and they can be emotionally hard to deal with. One mother stated that when she saw the bed bugs in her apartment she thought they were doomed. She moved moved out her bed bug infested apartment along with her husband and baby. The bed bugs infestation was very expensive for the family. They were in fear of bringing the bed bugs with them to their new residence so they left everything behind except for items they could place in Ziploc bags.

It cost about $10,000 to replace all of their possessions that they left behind. A year has gone by and the mother states she is still not fully recovered. She often worries her husband will bring bed bugs home from the subway. My guess is she would rather be invaded by monkeys.

If you have been invaded by NJ, NYC, Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens or Brooklyn bed bugs let a NJ, NYC bed bugs pest control expert destroy the insects for you.

Facts about Opossums

Opossums, also called “possums”, are the only marsupials that are native to North America, and they are close relatives of the koala and kangaroo. The shape of their bodies, their light gray fur, and long naked tails make them look like rats, but they are much larger in size, with adults measuring 33 inches long.

Opossums are nocturnal creatures, and they are rarely seen during daytime. They feed on all types of food, ranging from insects and small animals to fruits and vegetables. They are harmless animals that seldom attack human beings, but when they are provoked, they may use their sharp teeth to defend themselves. Opossums are known for their peculiar habit of playing dead when they are threatened, and they have prehensile tails that can be used to grab things.

Opossums are not destructive animals; they do not dig soil or cause damage to buildings, but they can be a nuisance when they decide to reside in homes or other buildings. Although they are rarely infected with rabies, they do carry fleas and ticks that can cause health problems.

If you are experiencing problems with opossums in your home, you can contact NY, NYC, and NJ pest control experts.

A Very Goofy Bed Bug Policy

NJ and NYC residents may be intrigued and baffled by what’s going on in Florida when it comes to bed bugs. A vacationer woke up in his Florida hotel with bed bug bites and complained about the bed bugs attack to Florida regulators. At the time the regulators were working under a goofy policy. The silly rules stated that hotel inspectors working for the Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s Division of Hotels and Restaurant’s were not allowed to enter a room that is suspected of having bed bugs! It’s true! It’s true! Stop laughing! They were concerned the bed bugs might jump on the inspectors and the inspectors would accidentally spread them all over the place.

Also, the inspectors couldn’t cite a hotel for a bed bugs infestation because state law says they need to actually observe the violation. Some people took some silly pills. Well, fortunately they recently changes the rules.

If you have NJ, NYC, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens or Manhattan bed bugs ask a NJ, NYC bed bugs pest control expert to eliminate the odious insects.

New Research Finding to Aid Elimination of Termites

It is estimated that termites cause about $30 billion worth of damage around the world every year, not including the amount of money that is spent on pesticides to eliminate them. Most of the termite removal techniques that are being practiced today involve the use of toxic chemicals, which can be detrimental to other animals as well as human beings.

Mark Bulmer, a termite expert from Towson University, discovered a way to kill termites in a more affordable and non-toxic way. According to him, termites have a natural protection against a type of fungus that is deadly to them, but that natural resistance can be undermined by a small sugar known as Glucono delta-lactone (GDL). This sugar will prevent certain enzymes in termites from causing damage to the fungal cell wall in their bodies, and this will make them more susceptible to fungal pathogens.

GDL is not harmful to humans, and it can be found in honey and wine. It can be used in combination with the fungus as food bait for termites, and it will kill them before they start to cause damage.
