The Original Bed Bug Invasion of America
Some researchers believe that bed bugs originally came to America with the early colonists from Europe back in the 1600′s. Most people have heard the saying “Sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite.” The saying goes back to the days of colonial America when they used to use a webbing of ropes to support their mattresses. They had to occasionally tighten the ropes and during the procedure they searched for the odious bed bugs.
Bed bugs seemed to have been totally eradicated in the United States about 50 years ago primarily due the the bed bug killing DDT. Since DDT was banned the bed bugs have made a big comeback. New York City is one of the nation’s primary spots for bed bugs. They are also living in New Jersey and many other locations across the nation. The horrible insects live in apartment units, schools, elegant homes, expensive hotels and other places.
Many pest control companies believe the bed bug problem is more severe than reported. Bed bug monitors are very useful in residences, hotels and various other settings.
