Bed Bugs Invading Schools

Bed bugs are crawling all over the country. They can be found in all kinds of places where humans hang out. Some teachers have found bed bugs crawling on their students. Unfortunately, the little critters in a classroom hitch a ride to the other kids’ homes. From there some go to the work setting of a parent, some may hitch a ride on an unknowing visitor and begin an infestation in another home. A small group of bed bugs in a classroom can cause a large number of infestations.

In bed bug infested areas such as New Jersey and New York City, school principals should have a comprehensive bed bug prevention plan. Placing bed bug monitors in the classrooms should be considered, especially if a bed bug has been seen crawling on a student or a back pack. A qualified bed bug detection dog should be brought in immediately upon the sighting of an odious bed bug. Also, parents should be immediately informed of the bed bug problem especially the parents of the kid who unknowingly brought them to school.

Is A Bed Bug Infestation Getting You Down in New York or New Jersey? Part II Of II

Continuing from Tuesday…

When you have a bed bug infestation, you must then decide on the best way to rid yourself of the pesky bugs.  Do you try to treat them yourself (this rarely works!).  Do you hire an exterminator to fumigate?  Do you hire an exterminator that uses heat treatment?  Do you use steam treatment?  How about freezing the bed bugs?  People also wonder if bed bug sniffing dogs are really worth hiring to try to treat bed bugs (absolutely, they are amazing!).  You must also purchase mattress encasements to make certain that you save your expensive mattress, but where can you find them?

There are many decisions to be made and much work to do when you have a bed bug infestation.

The fact is that most people are overwhelmed by the entire bed bug infestation experience, and rightly so.  A bed bug infestation will disrupt every aspect of your life!  Without proper assistance, the bed bug nightmare can and will linger for quite some time.  The good news is that help is available.  It is critical that you hire an experienced bed bug expert who has the most up-to-date products and services available to their customers in order to reach complete eradication.

Stern Environmental Group provides fast, discreet and professional bed bug services to Secaucus, New Jersey, the Greater New York City Metro and Connecticut Regions.  We service both businesses and homes.  Give us a call today!

Please! More Bed Bug Detection Dog Inspections!

Yes, bed bugs are a problem in New Jersey and New York City but they are also a big problem in cities all over the nation. Governments are passing legislation such as requiring government agencies to publish and distribute bed bug prevention pamphlets, restrictions on selling used mattresses and requiring apartment owners to pay for bed bug treatments without passing the cost to the residents. However, bed bugs are still thriving! The situation seems to keep getting worse.

The situation is particularly bad in multi-residence dwellings since the horrible bed bugs have figured out how to crawl through walls. What can we do? How about taking some of the taxpayers money allocated to bed bug infestation prevention and use that money to provide routine bed bug inspections by properly trained bed bug detection dogs. Early detection of a bed bug infestation in an apartment building can make it much easier to destroy a bed bug infestation before it spreads all over the building and it will save a ton of money.

Is A Bed Bug Infestation Getting You Down in New York or New Jersey? Part I Of II

Having a bed bug infestation in your home or business can be a very traumatizing event.  Sleeping often becomes a thing of the past as your once peaceful nighttime is riddled with thoughts of creepy little blood sucking parasites visiting you in your bed.

Once bed bugs are discovered, you must wash and dry all of your clothing in hot water, then bag clothing up so that the disgusting pests can’t make a home in them.  You must remove all clutter from your home.  You must vacuum everything in site as bed bugs are masters at hiding.  You can find these bugs hanging out in mattresses, box springs, headboards, dressers, nightstands, picture frames, baseboards, electrical outlets, carpets, and behind wallpaper. They are even known to crawl inside of electronic devices; which makes it even more difficult to spot them.  Cell phones, laptops, televisions, clocks, gaming systems, etc. are not off limits to these buggers!  Sadly, out of frustration, many people simply toss out their belongings for fear of bed bugs hiding inside.

Please check back on Thursday for the conclusion to this post.

Bed Bugs Invade Bronx Psychiatric Center

The New York Daily News has reported that the Bronx Psychiatric Center has been battling with the odious bed bugs. Members of the union, Civil Service Employees Association Local 401 filed a Public Employee Safety and Health Bureau complaint after Bronx Psychiatric had the bed bug problem treated room by room instead of evacuating and treating the ward.

Later on Bronx Psychiatric did have the ward evacuated and treated for bed bugs. However, soon after the inspection of the ward the horrible bed bugs were spotted in two other wards. They tried to destroy the horrible insects again, however, the Public Employees Federation Union stated that bed bugs are still in the facility. The union stated that they realize management is trying to fix the situation but the situation has not been fixed.

Even if they eliminate the bed bugs, a person can easily unknowingly bring them back in. Also, did they have a bed bug detection dog examine the wards after treatments? These dogs are an important part of a bed bug plan. Bed bug infestations are a big issue in New York City and in New Jersey.
