Yep…NYC Bed Bugs Are Still Here!
Bed bugs continue to wreck havoc from coast to coast. Both large and small towns across the United States are reporting in with bed bug infestations. With each passing day, new reports emerge lending credence to the belief that there is no end in sight to the demise of these pesky nighttime bloodsuckers. Many New York and New Jersey pest control experts believe that if you have been lucky enough to avoid these little vampires to date, it’s only a matter of time before you too will encounter these blood thirsty pests.
Unfortunately, you can encounter bed bugs in a wide variety of locations. Bed bugs are not like typical pests that will walk into your home or business. Instead, these creatures of the night will wait for the perfect opportunity to hitch a ride on any unsuspecting person or their belongings. For a bed bug, everyone is fair game. They don’t care about your financial status, ethnic background, or if your home is clean or dirty. Their only goal is to seek out a good blood meal and reproduce.
Back in the 1950’s, DDT became the most used pesticide in American homes. It was mainly developed to rid homes of cockroach infestations, but because it had at least a 30 day residual kill effect, DDT proved to be an amazing bed bug killer as well. Due to the widespread use of DDT by many homeowners, bed bugs nearly disappeared from the United States. Unfortunately DDT was found to be a very toxic and dangerous chemical to use and it was pulled off the market in the 1970’s.
There are over-the-counter bed bug remedies available at local stores, but they have proven to be costly and ineffective in the treatment of New York and New Jersey bed bug infestations. The only way to properly kill off those nasty nighttime vampires is to hire a New Jersey pest control expert who specializes in bed bug eradication services.
