As New York City bed bug infestations continue to rage many home and business owners are dreading the upcoming summer months.  New York City pest control experts are gearing themselves for the onslaught of bed bug infestations in the coming months as a continuous stream of travelers are anticipated to make their yearly jaunt to the Big Apple to make great summertime memories.

According to news reports, Aon Risk Solutions, Global Excess Partners and Terminix have joined together in a joint venture to offer the new bed bug insurance in hopes if helping combat the nationwide epidemic.  According to the news release, the bed bug insurance will provide:

• “Insurance to recover lost revenue resulting from taking rooms out of service during bed bug elimination.”
• “Dramatically reduced need to destroy room contents; in many situations, contents can be successfully treated rather than destroyed and replaced.”
• “Multi-faceted, integrated bed bug management approach includes a new, non-toxic elimination treatment that can return a room to service in five days or less.”
• “Discounted rates for mattress encasements and bed bug kits for greater peace of mind.”
• “Tips to prevent further outbreaks.”

Although not available for homeowners, perhaps this new offering will entice businesses to purchase the policy so that they will have the peace of mind knowing that if a bed bug infestation appears within their business, dorm, hotel, or rental property, the cost of bed bug eradication services will be covered so eradication services will commence quickly.  Additionally, summer travelers will have the opportunity to purchase the insurance before their vacations and have financial aid if they happen to bring the bloodsuckers home with them.
