NJ Pest Control Professionals Say to Steer Clear Of Yellow Jackets!

New Jersey pest control professionals report a high incident of yellow jacket activity this summer season.

Nothing can destroy your summertime fun more than being stung by an angry pack of yellow jackets!  While some bees may be docile and more interested in going about their business of collecting pollen and hopping from flower to flower, others may appear to be angry and aggressive for no apparent reason.  It’s the angry looking ones that send the kiddies and adult running for the hills!

Yellow jackets are an annoying backyard pest that seems to show up at every family barbeque or picnic.  Pop open a can of soda and these annoying creatures won’t hesitate to take a sip right alongside Uncle Bob!  Yellow jackets are yellow and black, and are known for their aggressive behavior and painful sting.

Yellow jacket nests can be found in a variety of different locations.  These versatile pests will build their nests in trees, shrubs, under decks, or in the eaves of a structure.   A yellow jacket nest is gray in color and is football shaped.  Yellow jackets make their nests by chewing tiny pieces of wood into a thin gray paper type nesting material.

Many people will accidently encounter a yellow jacket nest when they are cutting their lawn.  These type of yellow jackets, also known as “ground bees”, will build hives anywhere from two inches to two feet underground.  They often use abandoned rodent burrows for their nesting sites.  Despite being smaller than the typical yellow jacket, these bees become easily agitated when their nest is disturbed and will attack with a vengeance.

Don’t let yellow jackets chase you out of your backyard and keep you locked indoors this summertime.  Call a NJ pest control professional for expert yellow jacket eradication services!

Exterminators Should Always Be Licensed Part II Of II

Continuing from Thursday…

Not only is Josimar Ferreira accused of operating a Massachusetts extermination company without being certified, but it has been reported that he has also allegedly maintained pest control companies in New Jersey and New York as well.  Both New Jersey and New York have cited Ferreira for operating an unlicensed pesticide business.  It makes you wonder how he is able to obtain toxic pesticides, without being properly licensed.  Clearly there was a breakdown…in three states!

Stern Environmental Group has been providing expert bed bug and pest control services in New Jersey and New York for over ten years.  We pride ourselves on providing our customers with the safest pesticide application available, and offer a wide variety of services and products to meet many different types of needs.  We offer professional services to both residential and business customers alike.  Whether you are looking for help with bed bugs, rats, mice, squirrels, raccoons, groundhogs, ants, spiders, cockroaches, or bee control, Stern Environmental Group’s licensed pest control applicators are here to lend a helping hand!

Insect Control Is A Must

Spiders are one of the most feared creatures on earth.  Let’s face it, they move very quickly, some are hairy, they can crawl anywhere, they hide in dark places, some make webs, they come in different sizes, and some will bite you, even when not provoked.  Most spiders are harmless, but some spider venom is dangerous and sometimes deadly for some folks.

A woman in Atlanta Georgia was bitten by a brown recluse in April.  Not realizing how serious the problem was, she did not seek medical attention right away.  It did not take long for the spiders’ venom to do serious damage to her bite site as infection set in.  By the time she received medical help, it was too late.  Ms. Franklin lapsed into an 11 day coma and had to have a mastectomy due to the horrible infection that was caused by the bite.

Spring and summertime are the perfect times to enjoy the outdoors, not only for you, but for creepy crawlers too.  It’s important to keep an eye out for spiders, bees, wasps, hornets, and other dangerous pests.

Stern Environmental Group specializes in ridding your property of unwanted and dangerous pests.  Give us a call today to see how we can help you!

Keep A Watch Out For Beehives In New Jersey

carpenter-bee-1Africanized bees can cause serious problems for homeowners as one family in Florida has recently just found out.

Their day began as usual with a walk with their family beagle-basset hound mix dog named Lucy.  After arriving home, they placed their dog on a seven foot chain that was attached to their front porch.  Not long after, the homeowner heard a large branch crash onto the roof above his office.  The homeowner then looked out the front window to see his beloved pet being attacked by a swarm of Africanized bees.

The homeowner had no idea that a beehive was hidden up in the tree where the branch came crashing down from.  Although the dog did nothing to provoke the attack, for whatever reason, the bees clearly regarded the poor dog as a threat.  The dog received so many bee stings that sadly it died from anaphylaxis shock.

As bad it is to lose a beloved family pet is this way, the same scenario could also play out for a child or adult.  Africanized bees can be very aggressive and cause serious and dangerous consequences to homeowners.  It is wise to contact a licensed pest control specialist who is trained in the treatment of these aggressive pests.
