Bed Bugs, Cockroaches, And Fleas, Oh My! Part II Of II

Continuing from Tuesday…

Train operators have blamed some of the pest problems on the fact that people eat on the move and leave food on their seats.  Food crumbs could be attracting the cockroaches, but certainly not the bed bugs and fleas.  Bed bugs and fleas want one thing for dinner…blood, preferably from humans.  How nice that they have a warm place to live and a nice host to grab a quick meal from in the confines of the trains and buses in England.  Some passengers are so worried about the problem that they have resorted to sitting on plastic bags on their seats.  Perhaps more hygienic, but not sure how safe that is.

Rentokil, a pest control company there, has developed as new cleaning system where heat is used to kill all of the insects and their eggs in the trains and buses.  Hopefully, for the passenger’s sake, and those of us across the pond, something will be done to ease the spreading of bed bugs!  Sadly, it has already been reported that bed bugs and cockroaches have been spotted in New York train stations too!

If you have encountered bed bugs, it’s no laughing matter.  Bed bugs will multiply very quickly and disrupt your life.  Stern Environmental Group provides fast and discreet bed bug service to Secaucus, New Jersey, the Greater New York City Metro and Connecticut Regions.

Bed Bugs, Cockroaches, And Fleas, Oh My! Part I Of II

It has recently been reported that commuter trains in England are carrying more than passengers of the human kind.  A study from a pest control company there shows that cockroaches, bed bugs and fleas are having a field day traveling from place to place with passengers.

Tests were performed by spraying a pesticide inside of an empty train and a bus and then they counted the insect bodies. That sounds like a fun job to have!  The amount of dead insects found was absolutely staggering.  Reports are that the average commuter train contains up to 1,000 cockroaches behind lighting and ceiling panels, and 200 bed bugs and fleas in the seats! Wow, that’s a lot of potential infestations going on there.

Of course the train and bus operators deny that they have this sort of bug problem happening within their systems. They say that the trains are cleaned after each work day and deep cleaned every 14 days.  Just with bed bugs alone, a simple cleaning is not enough.  Even with a ritual deep cleaning every 14 days, you can just imagine how many bed bugs bite people, or worse yet, hop on people’s clothing and travel back to their home or businesses with them.  Bed bugs are master hitchhikers, it’s no wonder that England is suffering with such bad infestation problems!

Please check back on Thursday for the conclusion.

Got Winter Allergies? Could Be Because of Cockroaches!

stern cockroachYou don’t have to wait for spring to arrive to be suffering from allergies in the United States.  Many people are suffering from winter allergies and wondering what the cause might be.

Not liking the cold winter months, many cockroaches move indoors and invade our living space.  They especially love to hang out in the kitchen and bathroom, because of the ample food and water sources.  Cockroaches are known to spread 33 different kinds of bacteria, seven types of human pathogens, and six parasitic worms.

These nasty creatures are also known for causing terrible allergies and asthma in children and the elderly.  Cockroaches contain allergen proteins that are known to trigger asthma attacks and allergies in people who have sensitivities.  Cockroach saliva, droppings, and decomposing bodies all contain these proteins and should be avoided if at all possible.

Whether you have a business or a home, if you suspect that you have a cockroach infestation problem, you should contact a licensed pest control professional who is trained to take care of your infestation problem quickly.

Are Cockroaches Bugging You In New York City?

stern cockroachThere has been quite a bit of reporting in the news lately about the amount of cockroaches that are living among the residents of New York City and the surrounding Burroughs.  These disgusting pests are repulsive to most people just by their existence!

Cockroaches are capable of transmitting bacteria from place to place which could cause food poisoning.  Cockroaches are also responsible for causing serious allergies in some people, second only to house dust.  Like humans, cockroaches prefer to live where food, warmth and moisture are readily available.  They are very quick to breed and can easily produce several thousand offspring each year, so treating an infestation early is imperative.

Cockroaches have been lurking around for about 350 million years.  We can’t kill them all, but if you are experiencing a cockroach infestation in your restaurant or business, you should definitely contact a licensed pest control specialist as soon as possible.  Stern Environmental Group provides prompt professional service for cockroaches, bed bugs, spiders, and many other home invaders in Secaucus, New Jersey, the Greater New York City Metro and Connecticut Regions.  Give us a call today!

Could I Have Some Cockroaches With My In-Flight Meal Please? Part II Of II

cryonite-factoryContinuing from Tuesday…

The LSG SkyChefs facility in Denver reportedly prepares about 35,000 airline passenger meals per day for many different airlines.  The Denver kitchen facility has now been downgraded from “approved” to “provisional”.  This means that they are still open for business, but they only have one chance to clean up their act upon re-inspection.  If they don’t, the Denver facility will be shut down. Re-inspection is scheduled for the beginning of January so holiday travelers are not quite out of the woods yet.  For everyone’s sake, hopefully the disgusting bugs and germs will be gone soon.

Too bad the workers couldn’t see the cockroaches and take care of them BEFORE the Food and Drug Administration’s visit. Nobody wants roaches in their food people!  Just hire a pest control specialist to get the job done!  It should also be noted that airlines are now making passengers pay for their food instead of receiving it for free.  You would think with the extra dough they are collecting, a pest control specialist would be standard procedure…I’m just saying!  The FDA allows the public to view the LSG SkyChefs report, or any other report online, at any time.
