The Bedbug Early Detection System (BEDS) From The Atlantic Paste and Glue Company
The
Atlantic Paste and Glue Company (AP&G) has just release for consumer sale
a new passive bed bug monitoring product. The product is called the Bedbug
Early Detection System or BEDS for short and is a ingenious and inexpensive
way for homeowners, apartment dwellers, hoteliers and property managers to
monitor for bed bugs with a very unobtrusive footprint.
This same great product is available in bulk under the name Bedbug Detection System (BDS) and available for commercial use. Find out who would want to use the BDS system in this PDF.
For both the BEDS and BDS, the product is a small profile heavy duty cardboard piece that contains dots of glue and is folded over with a gap for bed bug to slide in. The product has a very small profile and conceals any evidence of bed bugs once they crawl inside. The product has no blood meal lure, but provides a "safe" harborage site for bed bugs if they are present. The passive bed bug monitors come pre-scored to fold in half.
These small enclosed cardboard monitors can be tucked inside nightstands, underneath drawers, mounted under box springs, affixed to the back of headboards, tucked behind pictures, and inserted between a mattress and a box spring. No one need know that there are bed bugs trapped inside until the glue board detection system is cut open for inspection by a pest control professional. Review suggested installation locations (PDF).
With pending laws in the New Jersey legislature that make property managers responsible for protecting residents from bed bug infestations an inexpensive product has been needed to catch a bed bug problem early.
Homeowners and apartment dwellers will have the peace of mind of knowing that they are catching a bed bug problem early for fast inexpensive treatment.
Hoteliers will praise the inexpensive cost and extremely low profile of the product as a way to start routinely monitoring all rooms in their property to prevent bed bug infestation and potential lawsuits if a guest is bitten by bed bugs.
This is one of the most inexpensive monitor on the market with a price tag that is affordable for everyone. With such a small profile these new glue-board monitors can be tucked literally anywhere in an apartment or hotel room. By providing harborage that bed bugs love the monitor allows professionals to catch a bed bug problem early to minimize spread and contain extermination costs.
Contained in each BEDS box are six foldable glue boards and a nice information booklet that includes instructions for use, placement recommendations, bed bug identification tips, and a what to do next guide if you find you do have bed bugs. This is an excellent new product that finally puts early detection in the hands of consumers.

The manufacturer has sent us this summary of their product that we think you will find additionally helpful.
BDS (Bedbug Detection System for commercial properties) and BEDS (Bedbug Early Detection System for consumers) are “passive” harborage devices designed to replicate an optimal hiding place for bedbugs – a tight dark space, made from rough, uneven material, and includes a unique (and patented) adhesive dot matrix that creates the narrow tunneling that bedbugs prefer.
When placed in strategic locations (behind headboards, in nightstand drawers, as well as other common bedbug hangouts) and checked regularly, BDS and BEDS can provide an early warning of the presence of bedbugs – before they proliferate and truly infest a location.
BDS should be utilized in hotels, multiple-unit dwellings/apartment complexes, offices, schools – anywhere people gather – as the first line of defense against bedbugs. BEDS should be utilized in homes and apartments and is geared to consumer purchase.
We agree, these new products will be an easy and inexpensive way that all hotels, dormitories, homeowners, and apartments can effectively monitor for early bed bug problems.
