Should NJ and NYC hotels take the drastic measure of shutting down if bed bugs are found in a few of the rooms? The Econo Lodge was closed down by the Kansas Department of Health because several of the rooms had been infested with bed bugs.

The Kansas health department gave them an emergency order to temporally suspend their business. Indeed a drastic measure. It will severely damage the hotel’s financial situation and the stigma of being shut down for bed bugs could be long lasting.
