The Rat Information Portal

Rats are one of the worst nuisance pests in New York City.  It is estimated that there are more rats living in New York City than there are people at this time.  Rats are known to carry diseases and quite simply are disgusting creatures.  The problem is so wide spread that residents and business owners must work together to achieve total eradication of rats.

Many people believe that New York City is infested with many different species of rats.  Despite their varying looks, in actuality the Norway rat is the only species residing in NYC.

The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s Pest Control Services (PCS) has come up with a new internet system to help New York City residents become watch dogs and cope with infestations.  The Rat Information Portal provides information on how to control rat infestations on properties that residents own, rent or manage.  The new site also features a searchable map that will show where rat inspections and violations have occurred.  The online guide will help teach residents and business owners how to recognize when they have a rat problem and how to make exterior changes to their environments to eliminate infestations.  The site also gives tips and information on how to contact licensed specialists to get rid of the pests.  In an effort to reach out to many residents, the information is offered in English, Spanish and Chinese.

If you have a rat problem and need help, call a New York/New Jersey professional exterminator to eliminate them.
