Perhaps NJ and NYC residents had the recent pleasure of watching bed bugs sniffing dogs finding the critters on the Today Show. Yes indeed the highly trained dogs made it to national television. Well it’s about time.

The University of Florida study showed that trained dogs are 98% accurate in finding bed bugs. Wolverines were not nearly as accurate. Actually they were not part of the study because of a lack of manners and for insurance reasons.

The trained dogs can help pest control experts determine almost exactly where bed bugs are hiding so less chemicals are used and less time is spent in the bed bug eradication process.

The founder of the Florida Academy trains rescue dogs to be bed bug detectives. No information regarding the use of rescue Chihuahuas. Some NJ, NYC residents would rather have a bed bug in their house instead of an annoying, Chihuahua. Studies have shown they’re scarier than bed bugs (perhaps not).
