When I was a child, I collected mice. First they were stuffed, then ceramic, then real mice. I thought they were cute and sweet, but my mice owning days soon ended when the pet store sold me a male and a female by mistake. My parents were outraged and shocked at how fast those once cute creatures multiplied. In a short period of time, there were babies, then the babies had babies, and then many more babies. My last count was over 200 mice and I could not find a place to unload them. After much begging, many pet stores took them off my hands and my mouse rearing days were over.
There was an article that recently reported a very disturbing incident in Australia. In the story, a bedridden elderly man, who lived in a nursing home, was severely bitten by a pack of mice. The poor man had part of his ears shredded, his hands bitten, and a horrible bite on his throat. He was found by the nursing staff in a pool of blood. What made the mice go on the attack you might ask? Nobody knows for sure, but the nursing home did have a mice population explosion over a few weeks time that was not addressed properly. The Queensland Health Department blamed the attacks on the “mouse plague” that is spreading across the region.
This goes to prove that having mice should not be overlooked. Mice are dangerous wild animals that carry diseases and can become aggressive in your home or business. If you have mice, you need to contact a licensed pest control expert to help you get rid of these creepy crawlers!
