Rats Are Now Easier To Find In New York City

New York City residents should be glad to know that they don’t need to look in back alleys or near trash bins any longer to see the rat population explosion.  The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is making rat locating much easier with their new Rat Indexing Project.

The goal of the new project is to find out where rats are congregating so that they can be properly dealt with in the City.  Department of Health inspectors will go from property to property with cool hand held computers and grade suspected rat activity.  Each property will receive a grade of zero to three; three being the worst grade.  Under the new system, property owners could be notified if their property fails the rat inspection and landlords are encouraged to take care of their rat problems on their own.  The Department of Health will be calling in pest control professionals for vacant lots that have rat infestation problems.  The inspectors are looking for rat burrowing, gnaw marks, rub marks along walls, droppings, and any live or dead rats.

All of the information that is collected will be uploaded onto a Google map.  You can access the information via the Department of Health & Mental Hygiene’s, Rat Information Portal.

Some Business Owners Prefer to Keep Bed Bug Infestations from the Public

The conference is designed for pest control companies but the conference includes one day which is designed for hotel, apartment, cruiseship and hospital managers. The conference administrators realize that owners of businesses that have been infiltrated by bed bugs want to keep it quiet.

Can You Escape Bed Bugs?

New Jersey Senior Citizens don’t Like Bed Bugs

Senior citizens living in a senior citizen high-rise complex in Bridgeton, New Jersey have been complaining about being attacked by bed bugs. A Bridgeton Housing Authority representative claims that whenever they receive a bed bug complaint they send an exterminator right away. That’s good news. When people wait to exterminate, the bed bugs have time to spread all over an apartment complex and attack more people. Also, by waiting, the bed bug pest control services become substantially more expensive.

Here is a problem faced by New Jersey apartment complexes, New York City apartment complexes and apartment buildings all over the nation: They exterminate the bed bugs and then someone unknowingly brings them back in the apartment complex and the horrible bed bugs infestations are back.
