January is a time to say goodbye to the old and hello to the new. January is also a time when cities across the United States are named the best place to live, the best place to work, the best place eat…and the list goes on and on. Along with the good comes the bad and one national pest control company, has released their Top 50 Most Bed Bug Infested Cities In America rankings.
Many city leaders across the US are surely surprised to see that their city has jumped up in the ranking, while others are thrilled to find that their city has slid down in the ranking.
The ranking is comprised of cities with the most bed bug infestation treatments from January 2012 through December 2012. The firm is reporting a whopping 33% increase in bed bug infestation business for the 2012 year as well.

Manhattan pest control professionals are thrilled to learn that New York City has dropped in the rankings for 2012. They have taken up the number 10 spot in comparison to the 2011 of #9 (and even lower by Terminix’s ranking for 2011).
The interesting thing to note about this year’s top 50 listing is that several smaller/mid-sized cities are battling bed bugs now in a big way. Where New York City has continued to drop in its rankings each year, showing that educational campaigns and efforts by Manhattan pest control experts are working, smaller cities must take on the same techniques that larger cities have in order to successfully combat the bloodsuckers.
