If you’ve been keeping up with our blog, then you probably read our post about the continued rat problem in NYC. More and more businesses are dealing with them, and it’s not an issue that’s going away anytime soon. That means NYC restaurant owners need to be extra vigilant in rat control. This is a two-part series that will offer some helpful tips as you fight back against these pests.
Tip #1: Make sure you know what you’re fighting against – How much do you understand about NYC rats? Do you know their habits? Do you know where you’re likely to find them and how they behave? The more you know, the easier it is to control the problem.
Tip #2: Do regular inspections inside – Once you understand rat behavior, you’ll know what to look for when searching for signs of them in your restaurant. Do your own inspections regularly so that if there is expected rat activity, you’ll be the first to know.
Tip #3: Cut off their food supply – You’d be amazed at what rats will eat. Pet food, scraps of food and even garbage can all be great meals for a rat. Be vigilant about cutting off these potential dinners.
In our next post, we’ll continue with a few more tips you can use to control your rat problem. In the meantime, please contact us if you’re in need of professional rat control.
